Just got back, whew!
It’s been a while, lots of things have happened since my last post (not that anybody cares anyway).
Wasn’t able to post an end-of-year account. Been busy being lazy right around that time. Especially if your company grants your VL a day before Christmas.
So just a few [embarrassingly late] highlights from last year:
October – been waiting, and waiting, and waiting… for Narnia. I think it hit the cinemas late December, can’t be sure. 2005 seems so far away…
November – been to Bangkok and back. Very much like Manila, only more prosperous. They still have traffic, which is a good sign that means our country hasn’t been that left behind… yet. Barely shopped in what is considered Asia’s tiangge capital, just did a lot of looking around. You could buy a lot of original and branded goods in most Thai shopping complexes at a fraction of what it would cost you back home. But as basic commodities go and vis-à-vis unlabelled counterparts, mahal pa rin. Brought back a dining set for my Iloilo clients and some designer items for my family.
December – marking my first year as a yuppie! Celebration's muted, since I’ll be leaving the area for good. Farewell, Panay isle, I’ve had good memories here that I’ll treasure forever. Turnover galore for my last week, and a lot of catch-up paper work on the side. Next stop: Manila and a well-earned work break. Thank you Jah for all the blessings this year!
I guess that’s it. Last year was more of a homecoming, really. My next assignment will take me to hot and humid Cagayan Valley, where I’m going to help turn around a business that has experienced a lot of turbidity and turmoil for the last three years. Our Luzon business has been severely battered in the past by competition and the shifty nature of business. But after a strong showing by KCPI’s Visayas and Mindanao teams, the company has felt secured enough to field a “dream team” for the Luzon regions. A ton of expectations on our shoulders this year as all eyes are trained on us. Still, matakot na sila sa amin 'coz we're already here! Hahaha.
So to me… I wish you enough! =)
